NASA X-HAB CHALLENGE

M.O.T.H.

FALL 2015 - SPRING 2016

M.O.T.H. was a team lead collaboration between the Pratt Institute's Architecture and Industrial design schools. The Institute was given a $10,000 grant to design and construct full scale mock ups of a fully designed Mars Transit Habitat or X-HAB over two semesters.

The project involved working with and coordinating with NASA.  We traveled to Houston to present to NASA to fully immerse ourselves in the culture of the agency, as well as confer personally with colleagues.

Both Semesters had different focuses, the Fall being overall/structural design, and the Spring being more system and detail oriented design.  Both involved communicating and dicussing our ideas with NASA engineers and scienctists to get feedback. Both semesters involved a deep collaboration between architects and industrial designers, learning and sharing different ways of thinking and building.

When communicating remotely with NASA we had to develop presentations that effectively comunicated our ideas and developments.

Below is the Final Presentations of the Spring and Fall Semesters.
